  • Monday, February 15 - Discussion: How James Baldwin’s Ideas Speak to Today’s America. 4:45pm, via Zoom.  Professor Novian Whitsitt will explore the thought of James Baldwin and connections to the current discourse on race and protest in the United States. Professor Amy Weldon will join Professor Whitsitt in discussion. Event link (Zoom link will be added the day of the event)
     
  • Thursday, February 25 - Movie: I Am Not Your Negro. All day, virtual. Raoul Peck’s 2017 film explores James Baldwin’s writings (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) and television appearances. Based on Baldwin's unfinished book, this visual essay explores racism through the stories of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. Event link (includes Kanopy viewing link)

  • ISAA Fashion Show! On Feb 13 at 7pm in the CFL, the International Student Association and Allies will be hosting their annual Fashion Show. This event allows students to display a wealth of diversity and talent. The night gathers students from a variety of backgrounds.
    A limited number of tickets will be going on sale this week! If you would like to attend and be on this list, please send us an email ([email protected]). Tickets are $3.00.
    If you want to sign up to be part of the event to model or perform or display a form of art please complete this form. All participants will receive gratitude packages.
     
  • Message From the Campus Programming Office:
    As you seek to address the issues of this unusual time by presenting speakers, panels, films, etc., please remember to check with Campus Programming before setting a date, even when your event is virtual.  Our office is charged with keeping Luther's calendar free of congestion, overbooking, and conflicts.  Everyone benefits when you check with Campus Programming early in the planning process.

  • Tax Workshop Update.  International students who worked during 2020 have begun receiving your W-2 forms for tax purposes. CIES will be hosting a few tax workshops to assist you with filing your returns. These will NOT begin until March. When we create the schedule, we will share it with you. If you would like to consider completing your tax return yourself, please refer to this page for more information.
