Shakespeare Society

Members of the Shakespeare Society participate in a Stage Combat Workshop.

Luther College Shakespeare Society is a student-led organization advised by faculty member Lindsey Row-Heyveld. Luther College Shakespeare Society connects the disciplines of Theatre, English, and History. We resolve to engage with Shakespeare’s texts using critical analysis, historical context, modern relevance, and performance practices. The goal of this organization is to foster an inclusive environment where any and all students can meet, read, discuss, and perform the works of William Shakespeare. Through this goal, we emphasize the values of critical thinking, creativity, and inclusivity of identities and ideas.

2021-2022 Season

The Shakespeare Society is a relatively new organization, formed November 2019. We are working to define our events and our goals for the year, but here is a sneak peak of what is to come:

  • "A Scary Tale Is Best For Winter" Event in collaboration with SPIN Theatre
    • A collection of old folktale stories and Shakespearean haunts to be performed in December.
  • "Shakespeare: Scenes in the Park" Events
    • A collection of scenes from a variety of Shakespeare shows, all performed outside on our beautiful campus!

Follow us on our socials to keep up with our events. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join!
