Dr. Ruth Caldwell Endowed Faculty Fellowship

Established by David W. Carlson ’85, in honor of Dr. Ruth Caldwell for her dedicated service to Luther College, its students, the liberal arts and the department of Modern Languages and her specialty in French. Awards are made to faculty members in the department of Modern Languages, with a preference given to French, to support their research, scholarship, and other professional development to enhance and promote excellence in student learning in accord with the mission of Luther College

Fund for Transformational Teaching and Learning

Established by generous alumni and friends of the college in honor of Luther's sesquicentennial, and with the realization that transformational teaching and learning happen both in and out of the classroom. The Fund for Transformational Teaching and Learning is the means through which Luther College continues to support and enrich its strong faculty and dedicated staff for years to come. Devoted to sound stewardship of all our resources, this fund invests in Luther faculty and staff so they will continue to thrive and grown in their vocations, and is used to support initiatives, such as: pre-tenure faculty sabbatical time and/or resource support, stimulation of teaching innovation through workshops, Paideia teaching fellowships and program enrichment, and support for visiting postdoctoral scholars.

William and Yvonne Kuhlman Fellowship (for Music Faculty Professional Development, Master Teacher Residencies, and Student Learning)

Established by William and Yvonne Kuhlman through a provision in their estate, this fund supports enhancing the opportunities for music faculty professional development and students interested in church music. This fellowship provides 1) support for music faculty sabbatical projects; 2) up to one week residencies for master teachers in organ and church music; and 3) support of student attendance at conferences and conventions in the field of church music. (Deferred Fund)

President's Fund for Faculty Scholarship

Established by Douglas Kintzinger ’82, this fund provides support to faculty for research, scholarship and other professional development to enhance and promote excellence in the classroom in accordance with the academic mission of Luther College.

Marilyn Roverud Endowed Fellowship in Lutheran Studies

Established in celebration of our namesake, Martin Luther, and in honor of the inspired leadership of Marilyn (Haugen) Roverud ’66, alumna, regent, synod volunteer, mother, patron of the arts, friend, and more, by the Roverud Family.  As a liberal arts institution and college of the church, Luther embraces a way of learning described by Dr. Darrell Jodock as the “third way” – committed to academic freedom to seek the truth, respectful of other faith traditions, and disciplined to seek whatever will truly serve the needs of the neighbor and make the world more trustworthy.  It is the Roverud Family’s intent that this fellowship serve as a catalyst for lively and informed discussion about what it means to be a college of the church. This fellowship shall be awarded annually to a tenured member of the Luther College faculty, who has demonstrated exceptional teaching skills, who inspires students to achieve, and who individually or collaboratively with a student scholar, wishes to pursue research pertaining to Lutheranism.

Uwe J. Rudolf Endowed Faculty Fellowship

Established by David W. Carlson ’85, in honor of Professor Uwe Rudolf for his dedicated service to Luther College, its students, the liberal arts and the department of Economics and Business. This fellowship provides faculty members of the Economics, Accounting, and Management department support for their research, scholarship, and other professional development to enhance and promote excellence in student learning in accord with the mission of Luther College.

Tomson Family Faculty Fellowship in Accounting

Established through the generous support of the Tomson Family, the Tomson Family Faculty Fellowships honor the tradition of great teaching in the liberal arts that define Luther's mission. These fellowships are established to provide an opportunity for selected faculty to study and learn by funding a limited amount of reassigned time or funding to support faculty scholarship for each person selected.

Doris and Ragnvald Ylvisaker Endowment for Faculty Growth

Established by the generous support of Doris and Ragnvald Ylvisaker from a gift from their estate, this fund provides support to further the advancement and enrichment of the faculty at Luther College through grants. These grants support summer work on projects that will be suitable either to submit for publication or to perform, show, or in some other way present beyond the campus and Decorah area communities.
