The Lyle B. and Evelyn E. Beaver Scholarship, established by Evelyn Beaver, shall be awarded to qualified students who can show evidence of need for financial assistance and preference given for students interested in recreation studies.

The Laura M. and Martin K. Elstad Scholarship, established by Martin Elstad, class of 1935, shall be awarded to qualified students who can show evidence of financial assistance with preference given in alternating years to a female physical education major and then to a male science or music major.

The Kent Finanger Scholarship, established by Mark '70 and Vickie (Mohlis) Donhowe '70 in honor of Kent Finanger '54, professor emeritus of health and physical education, shall be awarded to qualified students who might pursue coaching and/or teaching as a career following their graduation from Luther College.

The Kent and Lois Finanger Scholarship, established by Kent Finanger '54, professor emeritus of health and physical education, and his wife Lois, shall be awarded to qualified students with demonstrated need for financial assistance with preference given to health, physical education majors.

The Lucia H. and Kent E. Finanger Scholarship, established by family and friends in memory of Lucia Finanger, shall be awarded to junior or senior students majoring in health or physical education, with preference given to students planning to teach and coach.

The Henry and Arlene Hoff Family Scholarship, established by the family and friends of Henry and Arlene Hoff in their loving memory, shall be awarded to qualified junior or senior students with demonstrated need for financial assistance and a GPA of at least 3.0. First preference shall be given to students majoring in athletic training, with second preference given to students majoring in health, or physical education.

The Jay and Kay McGrew Endowed Scholarship, established in honor of Jay and Kay McGrew on their retirement to recognize their distinguished service to Luther College as professors and coaches, shall be awarded to qualified students majoring in health and physical education who can show evidence of need for financial assistance.

The Paul and Carolyn Solberg Family Scholarship, established by family and friends in memory of Paul Solberg '61, professor emeritus of health and physical education. Solberg served Luther for more than 35 years, holding positions as professor of health and physical education and assistant football coach from 1966-2001, assistant track coach from 1966-67, head wrestling coach from 1966-80 and 1982-83, and head baseball coach from 1980-2001. In addition to his teaching and coaching duties, Solberg also served as assistant director and then director of athletics. Of the many legacies he left Luther, one of the most notable is his development of the Adapted Physical Education program where Luther students work one-on-one with a special needs student. He taught the course for 27 years, and it continued to be a favorite class among Luther students long after his retirement. The scholarship shall be awarded to qualified students with demonstrated need for financial assistance. Preference shall be given to students in the education and/or health promotion and exercise science programs who show an interest in working with people with physical and/or learning disabilities.

The Jeff Wettach Scholarship, established by alumni and friends in honor of Jeff Wettach '79 on his retirement as men's and women's track and field head coach and assistant professor emeritus of health and physical education. Wettach served at Luther for 33 years in a number of different capacities. The scholarship shall be awarded to qualified students with demonstrated need for financial assistance. Preference shall be given to students majoring in health and fitness promotion or exercise physiology and/or to students who wish to pursue coaching after college.
