George Lowe

George Lowe is an assistant professor of art at Luther College. He currently is teaching pottery classes and sculpture. His pottery career began at Luther College in 1974. After many years of experience both teaching at the college level and as a studio artist he returns to Luther College to share his expertise and knowledge. His roots come from the strong wheel-throwing traditions and Bauhaus philosophy that has launched the careers of many Luther graduates. He has introduced hand building with clay, which now offers a wider range of three-dimensional form.  He also teaches sculpture, where students learn about three-dimensional art and work with a wide range of materials and fabrication techniques. Classes involve developing technical skills, knowledge of historical and contemporary three-dimensional art, and critical discussion of artistic expression.
