Thanksgiving break heating notice

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the heating set points will be set to their normal unoccupied temperatures. For instance, Loyalty Hall will be set to unoccupied. Faculty and staff may use buildings over the break, but indoor temperatures can be expected to be lower than normal. If you know you will have office hours over break, please let <facilities> know by Wednesday, Nov. 27, at noon. Thank you for your assistance.

Christmas at Luther parking restrictions

In order to accommodate the large number of visitors anticipated for Christmas at Luther, the following parking restrictions will go into effect starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4. These restrictions will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at which time we will return to the usual lot designations.

The general parking areas of the Library, Jenson-Noble and City Pool lots will be reserved for visitors. Students should move their vehicles from these lots to either the Regents Center or Farwell lots.  Faculty and staff may park in the Jenson, Library and Sampson Hoffland lots provided they move by 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday unless attending the performance. 

Exception: Vehicles displaying a commuter, Baker or college apartment sticker may park in the gravel city pool lot provided they vacate the spaces before 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The Faculty/Staff parking area by Valders will be reserved for handicapped parking. Alternative parking includes the roadway from Sampson Hoffland to the main gate, Regents Center and Farwell lots. Starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, through Sunday, Dec. 8, the lots on the east and west side of the CFL will also be designated for handicapped parking only.

Your cooperation with these changes will be appreciated. Vehicles found to be in violation of these special event restrictions are subject to fine.  

Library holiday book sale

Preus Library will hold a special Holiday Book Sale from Dec. 1–7, with hundreds of hardcover and paperback books available for purchase. Prices will decline daily.

Caucus Competence

Iowa is famous for voicing its presidential candidate preferences via caucus. Caucusing happens in Iowa on Feb. 3. Come and learn about the process, the procedures for both parties and figure out whether it's best to vote in Decorah or your hometown. Political Science professors Carly Foster and Mike Engelhardt will lead the discussion. Pizza will be served. Monday, Dec. 9, 11 a.m.–noon, CFL Qualley Lounge. Sponsored by the CEPE.

Norse Hub, my.luther.edu and Colleague will not be available over Thanksgiving break

ITS will move Colleague to new servers on Nov. 27–Dec. 1. Colleague, Norse Hub and my.luther.edu will not be available starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27. All Colleague related services are expected to be available again on Dec. 1. Check the ITS website for more information.

Donate hats and gloves to CIES office

The Center for Intercultural Engagement and Student Success will accept donations of new or gently used winter accessories in adult sizes including hats, scarves, gloves/mittens and warm socks. We can only accept items that are in good condition. Donations can be brought to the CIES office (Union 113).

United Way Campaign wraps up

Thank you, everyone, who has supported United Way of Winneshiek County this year. Congratulations to Anna Peterson who won the final prize, a Not Quite Free Lunch ticket for herself and 5 friends. As a community, we have raised $10,374. Last year, the Luther community raised $12,956.96. Donations are appreciated and can be returned to HR or mailed to United Way at the following address PO Box 165, Decorah, IA 52101.
