Portrait studio open Thursday afternoon
New to Luther? Want a new headshot? The Luther portrait studio is open from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in 213 Dahl. No appointment necessary. The studio also will be open from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24.
Oneota Market, Cafeteria closed Aug. 8
Oneota Market and the Caf will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 8, for all day dining services training.
KATIE version upgrade Aug. 7

Humana Medicare Advantage Plan update
Humana informed Human Resources that Cresco Medical Clinic (Regional Health Services of Howard County) is in-network for individuals covered by Luther's Humana Medicare Advantage Plan. All patients of Dr. David Heine will be able to receive care not only with him but any doctor within the facility. Please contact Marsha in Human Resources, 387-1415, with questions
MagellanRX
MagellanRx manages prescriptions for employees on Luther's UMR health care plan. Access an online tool that allows participants to "shop" for the best prescription prices, see claims and service dates, prices paid and claim status. To enroll, go to MagellanRx and create a user name and password as directed. The "member ID" is your member ID on your UMR health card. The other pieces of required information are also on the UMR health card. Please call Marsha, <mwenthold> or 387-1415, with questions.

Farewell
ITS is hosting a farewell for Jacob Secor, programmer and information security analyst, at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in Main 12. He has accepted a position as a systems engineer with STEALTHbits technologies and will be moving to Madison, Wisconsin, in August to join his wife Emily, who will be performing with the Madison opera. Position openings
Full-time custodian: The Custodial Department has an immediate opening for a full-time custodial staff position. General custodial responsibilities include overall appearance of assigned academic and resident hall building(s). Hours generally are Monday-Friday. Must be able to work with little supervision, complete work thoroughly and promptly, and be self-motivated. Valid driver license required. High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
Administrative assistant: The economics, accounting and management; math; and computer science academic departments are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual for a part-time, .50 FTE, approximately 26 hours per week during the academic year, position. Responsibilities include maintaining building schedules and department websites, coordinating travel arrangements and allocating costs to departments. An A.A. degree or equivalent experience preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google software tools, scheduling and website software is desirable. Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is required.

Jonathon Struve presented his poster, "The Songs of Philip Wharton," at the National Association of Teachers of Singing national convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 24. He was joined by the composer and assisted by Mitra Sadeghpour from The University of Northern Iowa. The poster discussed Wharton's song cycles and evaluated their appropriateness for programming in undergraduate student recitals.
Andy Hageman published the short essay "A Reflection on Why Agent Tamara Preston Has the Stuff" on the tv series "Twin Peaks" at 25 Years Later--Damn Fine TV/Film.
Italee Castellon '19, and Lauren Voigt '20, are working with nonprofit organizations in the surrounding Decorah area in order to better connect Luther College students with volunteer opportunities for their summer research project and Luther's Social Impact Fellowship Program, which partners one student studying social work and one student studying business to research a problem and develop a business plan for a solution. They are working with Brittany Cord, Britt Rhodes and Alexandra White.
