R.J. McElroy Trust student and faculty research projects
The Iowa College Foundation announces its call for proposals for R.J. McElroy Trust Student and Faculty Research Projects for 2015-16. Student participants must be juniors or seniors in the fall of 2015. Applications require dual authorship by the proposing student or team of students, and a sponsoring faculty member. Funds may be used to support all expenses of a credible research project except faculty stipends. Maximum award is $2,000. Luther is eligible to submit up to four proposals. Internal deadline for proposals is Friday, April 10. Forms are available in the Dean's Office, Union 262, or via email <brandtja>.
Staff Excellence Award
Staff and faculty are invited to nominate an administrative or support staff person for the staff excellence awards. Nominations are due Friday, April 10, to the Office of Human Resources. Winners will be announced at the Luther staff day. More information about the award and the nomination form can be found at luther.edu/hr/
Health and dependent flex claims
Health and dependent flex claims for 2014 must be submitted for reimbursement by March 31, 2015. Claims must have been incurred by March 15, 2015, to be eligible for reimbursement from 2014 elections.
Summer 2015 faculty workshop
LIS and the Dean's Office are partnering to offer "Enhancing Student Learning Through Information Literacy and Technology" for faculty July 13-15. Participants will consider course-specific information literacy principles and departmental/teaching goals as related to technology including: multimedia, social media, new media literacies, hardware, software, etc. Additional information and application can be found at: http://lis.luther.edu/studentl
Faculty and staff pilates classes
Classes are 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays for $24. Attend at least four of the six weeks and receive a $25 Luther gift card. Modifications for all levels. Come and check it out this Wednesday in CFA Room 121 for free.
Community Supported Agriculture rebates
Employee households are eligible to receive up to $100 towards the purchase of a community supported agriculture share or garden membership in 2015. Options include: a regular box of vegetables (traditional share, winter share), select from farmer's stand at the farmer's market (market share), or receive assistance with planting and maintaining a vegetable garden (garden membership).More information and registration forms.
Tournament championship t-shirt

Luther Community Garden
Gardening season is right around the corner and registration for 2015 community garden plots is open. The Luther Community Garden is a great way to learn more about gardening while growing something beautiful with others from the community. Plots are $30 for a full plot and $15 for a half. Paideia Endowment Governing Board
The Paideia Endowment Governing Board invites members of the Luther community to propose presentations on the theme "Impermanence: Embracing Change" for the 2015-16 Texts and Issues Lecture Series. The hope is that participants will address the theme from the perspective of a wide variety of texts drawn from the arts, sciences and humanities. If interested in participating in the lecture series, please submit a tentative title and a brief (250-500 word) proposal by Friday, April 17. Free The Girls
XOP will be collecting gently used or new bras of any shape, size or color. These bras will be sent to the Free The Girls: Fight Human Trafficking foundation. Please bring bras to the collection box at the mail center or contact Rachel <madrra01>. XOP will be accepting donations from April 1- May 1. There will be a table outside of the cafeteria from 5-7 p.m. April 20-April 24.
Send a bunny to your honey
Support Luther College Dance Marathon by purchasing Easter eggs filled with bunny candy. The eggs can be sent to friends, co-workers, roommates or a honey's SPO for $1. Luther College Hearing Board
Seeking new student members for next year's board. The Hearing Board is a governing body for the college's Student Code of Conduct. Interested students will need a recommendation from both a current student and faculty/staff member and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students may find the application here. Luther and Climate Change
The Center for Sustainable Communities is hosting a series titled Luther and Climate Change. Starting April 2, the series will run from 9:40-10:30 a.m. Thursday mornings in Valders 367. The presentations will focus on one topic each and will last about 15 minutes, followed by a questions and answers sessions and discussion. The topics tentatively are: climate science, policy, economics, technology, Luther's commitments and actions, and local food. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be provided.

Gerhard Marcks Lecture
The Luther Art History department welcomes Joni Kinsey, professor of art history at the University of Iowa, for her lecture, "Thomas Moran's Britain: Transatlantic Visions of the 'American Turner,'" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in Olin 102. The event is open to the public, with no charge for admission.
Luther Collegium Musicum ensemble to perform April 9
Performing works by Henry Purcell, the Luther College Collegium Musicum concert begins 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 9, in the Noble Recital Hall in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus. The ensemble of 11 singers and eight instrumentalists will focus on the second act of Purcell's "King Arthur," an opera with libretto by John Dryden. Also performing in the concert is the student/Decorah community instrumental ensemble of recorders and viols, and a smaller recorder ensemble.
Women, Faith, and Finance
There is still time to register for the April 10 Women, Faith, and Finance seminar at the Hotel Winneshiek. Keynote speaker is Joanne Seymour Kuster on "Values and Valuables: Leaving the Best Legacy for Your Heirs." Area financial professionals will also present. Cost is $30 or $25 each for groups of two or more. Women of all ages are invited. First 75 paid registrants receive a free book. Registration deadline is Thursday, April 2. 13th Annual Brudos Family Opera Prize
Jennifer LeDoux, Luther senior from Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the 2014-15 recipient of the Alan R. and Sally J. Brudos Family Opera Prize. She will perform a recital at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.
A reception will follow the performance. Both the recital and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.
An Evening with Nick Jonas
Pop sensation and host of Nickelodeon's 2015 Kids' Choice Awards, Nick Jonas will perform "An Evening with Nick Jonas," at Luther at 9:15 p.m. Monday, April 20, in the Regents Center. Doors open at8:45 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $35 and go on sale Thursday, April 3. A former member of the pop rock band, The Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas announced himself as a brand-new artist on his self-titled solo debut in November 2014.
Student recitals
Maranatha Gannon, Luther College junior from Viola, Wisconsin, will perform a flute recital at 7 p.m. Friday, April 10.
Wesley Frye, Luther College junior from Tinley Park, Illinois, will perform a tenor recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12.
Tatyana German, Luther College senior from Rochester, Minnesota, will perform a vocal recital at noon Sunday, April 12.
Recitals are held in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.

Custodial
Full-time (1.0 FTE) 12-month position. General custodial responsibilities include overall appearance of assigned academic and resident hall building(s). Hours will generally be Monday through Friday with some weekend work required. Must be able to work with little supervision, complete work thoroughly and promptly, and be self-motivated. Ability to perform maintenance and repair work of custodial equipment required. High school diploma or equivalent and valid driver license required.
Registrar
Full-time registrar responsible for leadership of the Registrar's Office, including maintaining student academic records and upholding the academic regulations of the college. Requirements include: minimum of three years in a higher education setting; previous administrative experience as a registrar or associate or assistant registrar or as college faculty; knowledge of FERPA and other policies pertaining to compliance of federal rules and regulations; at least three years of experience with Colleague or a similar database and degree audit; and familiarity with trends in American higher education. A master's degree is preferred.
Acquisitions & Resource Management Librarian
This position will provide leadership for library technical services including acquisitions, cataloging, interlibrary loan, and serials and subscriptions management. The Acquisitions & Resource Management Librarian is a member of the Library Staff within Library & Information Services (LIS).

ARTICLES, CREATIONS, HONORS, ETC.
Andrew Ellingsen facilitated a session at the 2015 Organization of American Kodaly Educators National Conference in Minneapolis titled "Critical Thinking, 21st Century Skills and the New National Standards in the Intermediate Music Classroom." He also presented a session on Orff Schulwerk pedagogy as part of the Alliance for Active Music-Making's four-part OAKE session titled "Making Connections: Four Pathways To Lifelong Music Making" and three sessions for elementary music educators at the North Dakota Music Educator's Association 2015 Conference.
Ginger Meyette presented a workshop titled, “Linking Classroom to Community: Field in an Age of Civil Unrest,” at the Baccalaurate Program Directors (BPD) conference in Kansas City, Missouri on March 6.
Norma Hervey is teaching in Prague. She is teaching an online history class to students in Uganda and has done three seminars on the Holocaust for American students studying in Europe.
Alexandra White presented a paper, "Writing for the Real World: Business Communication for College Students" at the annual North American Management Society conference on March 26 in Chicago.
The Decorah First United Methodist Church choir will present a cantata, "The Crucifixion" by English composer John Stainer, at the church on Friday evening, April 3, at 7 p.m. in observance of Good Friday. The choir is directed by Amy Engelsdorfer and accompanied by Shayla DeJong '16. The cantata will feature soloists from Luther voice faculty, Ed Andereck, tenor, and Jonathon Struve, baritone. There is no charge for admission.
